Mac and Cheese Fest 2006

Mac and Cheese Fest 2006

Just in time to keep you warm during winter, HeatEatReview.com will bring you five days straight of macaroni and cheese reviews. Oh, I didn’t say five reviews, I said five DAYS of reviews. And we’ll be giving you three reviews a day. Yes, you read that correctly - 15 reviews of macaroni and cheese in one week. Sure, you might think that’s a little crazy, but this is mac and cheese weather and we’ve got to know what’s good to eat!

Join us, starting Monday, Dec. 11, for five days of nothing but macaroni and cheese.* Yes, perfect for vegetarians! Oh, you’re lactose intolerant? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered too. Yes, we’re going to be trying almost EVERY SINGLE type of macaroni and cheese available for purchase in American grocery stores.**

Sincerely,
Abi Jones
Editor, www.HeatEatReview.com

*Okay, there will probably also be a couple of posts about how I’m sick and tired of eating mac & cheese in preparation for mac and cheese week.

**Please note that I’m not actually reviewing every single type of macaroni and cheese available for purchase in American supermarkets. That would be far more than 15 reviews and I do not have a freezer that big.

Color For A Cause

Sample Ad from The Find
During the next week, whenever you see an ad for ‘The Find’ (cool picture-based shopping search engine), click on it! Then, search for something red. It doesn’t matter which red thing you search for, but every time you click from HeatEatReview.com to The Find and search for something red, The Find will donate $1.00 to Doctors Without Borders. Pretty neat, eh? So, if the ad is showing up in the sidebar, click on it and search for something red!

‘Red’ things I have searched for:
Red Wine Glasses
Red Santoku Knife
Red Cashmere Sweater

While the image in this post is a picture of the ad, it will not take you to The Find. You have to click on the ad in the sidebar. Go, Click, Search! And feel good about giving $1.00 to Doctors Without Borders.

Trader Joe’s Week Nov. 27 - Dec. 8

Are you tired of turkey yet? Do not fear!
Trader Joe’s Week* is almost here.

On September 1st a Trader Joe’s store opened just 8 blocks from HeatEatReview.com headquarters (a.k.a. the office where most of us work). Since then we’ve been tasting and writing about a whole host of items. As a break from your typical “Ideas for turkey leftovers” fare, HeatEatReview.com will feature 12 days straight of Trader Joe’s goodness beginning Monday November 27th. We’ll kick off the week with the announcement of our Trader Joe’s gift pack winner and move right into reviews of TJ goodness (and not-so-goodness).

Did they give us free food? Ha, we wish. As usual, we’ll be reviewing our actual lunches and dinners. Enjoy the reviews and let us know what you think of TJ’s week. Don’t have a Trader Joe’s near you? Well, you’ll just have to keep your eyes peeled for the next contest.

Sincerely,
Abi Jones
Editor, www.HeatEatReview.com

P.S. If you are from Trader Joe’s and would like to send the staff of HeatEatReview.com some free food, that would be awesome. Also awesome: giving us a sneak peek at your food-testing process. Need to get in touch with me? Send and email to abi@heateatreview.com or use the contact form.

*You may have noticed that while I wrote “Trader Joe’s Week”, this event actually occurs over the course of 12 days, which is more than a week. I said week because I don’t want to get into horrible “12 Days of Trader Joe’s” jokes already. There’s time enough for that come December.

P.P.S. Tomorrow review is not going to be a Trader Joe’s item. It is going to be a Stouffer’s item. Please don’t freak out on me and tell me that it is not a Trader Joe’s item. This celebration of cheap gourmet food does not begin until Monday.

Interview on FoodCandy.com

Have you ever thought to yourself “I’d really like to know what Abi thinks about cultured meat and embryonic stem cell research.”? If so, check out my recent interview with dB, founder of FoodCandy.com, a networking site for foodies. Ok, I didn’t talk at all about stem cells, but I definitely would like the opportunity to try cultured meat. Seriously, if you’re from New Harvest and you’re reading this, drop me a line.

Not into cultured meat? Well, you can still take the time to view the largest photo of me that’s ever been on the internet. Really, it looks like I’m going to leap off of the page. That or swallow a cardboard box.

Go, read the interview and become a member of FoodCandy. Especially if you’re in Washington, DC. Apparently there are only 5 foodies in DC. I’ve posted the 7 Layer Bar recipe on its own page.

Sincerely,
Abi Jones
