Top 10 Posts of 2007

January 3, 2008 | Reviewer: Abi Jones

Without further ado, the ten most popular HeatEatReview.com posts of 2007:

  1. Weight Watchers Points Here at HeatEatReview.com, we try to use our extremely unscientific methods (aka free online calculators) to calculate the points in every item we review, from One Point, beany vegetable side dishes to the Hungry-Man Sports Grill American Classic, clocking in at 25 Points.
  2. Banquet Pot Pie Recall - There are two issues at hand here: a) Nobody in the United States knows the exact wattage of his or her microwave oven. b) That salmonella had to come from somewhere.
  3. Lean Cuisine Shrimp and Angel Hair Pasta - Confirming the dynamics behind the 2nd most popular post of 2007
  4. Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli - Dear Lord, people on the Internet love Lean Cuisine.
  5. Hungry-Man Hearty Chicken Parmigiana - Thanks to Marvo at The Impulsive Buy (Not Safe for Kids)
  6. South Beach Chicken Monterey Wrap - Andrew suffers for his art. Check out his personal blog, Andrew Taylor Recommends, he just reviewed some crazy new gin. Why didn’t I think to create a gin-reviewing blog?
  7. Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Grilled White Meat Chicken & Roasted Red Pepper Alfredo Sauce - Aptly summarized as Worst Chicken Ever.
  8. Bob Evans Sausage Gravy & Biscuits - Nicole, let’s go out for some of this while I’m in DC. Nothing says ‘happy memories’ like hardening arteries.
  9. Healthy Choice Creamy Dill Salmon Ben Franklin once said “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” Healthy Choice Creamy Dill Salmon seems to prove otherwise.
  10. Stouffer’s White Meat Chicken Pot Pie - The easy way to eat 1200 calories in one simple sitting.

You might have noticed that most of these posts are from the beginning of the year. I understand that a more accurate measurement would be to take the number of hits each post received and divide that by the number of days that the post was available, but that would require far more work that one expects for a Top Ten List.

Weight Watchers Points

January 17, 2007 | Reviewer: Abi Jones

You may or may not be a believer in Weight Watchers. If you aren’t, then sorry, you’ll have to check back this afternoon for another one of Nicole’s stunning reviews. If you are a Weight Watchers lover, then we’ve got a new feature for you. Introducing the HeatEatReview.com WW Points categories. Now you can look for reviews based on a super-secret formula developed by the folks at Weight Watchers.

Please note that we got all of this information from the creators of the meals. This means that we’re not responsible for points changing, being incorrect, etc. You’ll need to take that up with Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice, and Smart Ones.

Fork wrapped with measuring tape

Here at HeatEatReview.com HQ, we’ve definitely enjoyed a few too many glasses of egg nog. In that spirit we’re featuring an entire month of healthy meals and snacks. We’re going to give you the best and the worst of Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice, and Smart Ones meals. We’ll also delve into the world of ‘All Natural’ and ‘Organic’ foods. Don’t worry, we have hippies on hand especially for those experiments. This celebration (or is it punishment?) kicks off with the inside scoop on three yet-to-be released Kashi meals.

That’s right, you’ll know whether or not these guys are good before they’re even in stores:

Tuesday: Kashi Lemongrass Coconut Chicken
Wednesday: Kashi Pesto Pasta Primavera
Thursday: Kashi Chicken Florentine

Worried that our ‘healthy’ reviews won’t have the same zip or zing as regular ones? You must not be familiar with Healthy Choice’s Dill Salmon meal. Stick with HeatEatReview.com for a January filled with healthy meals, edible or not.

Best and Worst Frozen Meals of 2006

December 29, 2006 | Reviewer: Abi Jones

2006 Top Ten Countdown Icon

The other day, my coworker, friend, and sometime frozen-food-reviewer Kate commented that with the coming of 2007 we’d be enjoying a lot of great lists. You should have seen the joy in her eyes at that realization. Seriously, it sort of made me fear for my life.

Fortunately for people who love lists, we at HeatEatReview.com are not immune to list-mania. No, we can’t tell you the Ten Best Movies of 2006 or the 40 Best Albums of 2006. But we know a whole heck of a lot about convenience foods.

Thanks for sticking with us over the past 9 months. We’ve consumed a multitude of microwavable meals; thank God these tortures have not been for naught. We’re now armed with over 200 reviews (yes, you read that correctly), a whole lot of frozen-food-wisdom, and enough tastebud loss to consider applying for a research grant.

It is with both pride and horror that we present to you our lists for 2006. During the list-fest, this post will stay at the top of HeatEatReview.com’s front page. Below this post will appear our awesome lists.

  1. Top Ten Macaroni and Cheese Dinners
  2. Top Ten Rice-Containing Meals
  3. Top Ten Asian Frozen Meals
