Healthy Choice says: A trio of cheeses - ricotta, Parmesan and farmer - gives our Stuffed Pasta Shells their creamy, rich flavor. We used cheese made with skim or part-skim milk, along with adding a small amount of sharp Parmesan cheese to give this dish full-bodied taste.

Nicole says: Healthy Choice’s broccoli side is tasty but mushier than even microwaveable broccoli need be. Broccoli can stand up to a good steaming, but this broccoli only has a hint of crispness. Rounding out the meal is a vegetarian entree containing farmer’s cheese. The sauce accompanying the stuffed shells has less flavor than plain Prego tomato sauce and the shells cooked up a bit too tough for my taste. They were probably “al dente”, but are stuffed shells supposed to be al dente? Also, is it possible to make “al dente” pasta in the microwave or were they actually overcooked? The cheese mix inside was “creamy” as per the box blurb, but lacked flavor. “Full-bodied taste” is one of the most misleading things I’ve ever seen on a frozen food box. I really need to stop eating low-fat, low-taste Healthy Choice meals and go for the full fat and full calories items.

Healthy Choice says: White meat chicken with fiesta sauce, rice, vegetables and caramel apple dessert

Abi says: After wrestling with the film cover on the dessert, my hands were redolent with the scent of caramel. I love caramel. I also love to try things that are vaguely hispanic, like me. I know it isn’t a good sign that I’m more willing to write about having caramel hands than eat this meal, but look at those pictures. You and I both know that this isn’t going to be delicious. At this point, I’m not even looking for delicious, I’m looking for something that will keep me from ordering pizza.

Healthy Choice says: Our silky Alfredo sauce is a rich blend of condensed skim milk and Parmesan cheese. We use small amount of strongly flavored Parmesan cheese to create the distinctive Italian-style flavor for fettuccini cooked al dente.

Nicole says: This dish is not all that cheesy, but the sauce is very creamy and reasonably tasty, and in generous proportion to the noodles, chicken, and broccoli. The chicken and broccoli both deliver good flavor and texture, and there’s plenty of each for the meal size. The pasta has nothing notable wrong with it, but it doesn’t stand out in any positive way, either. The serving size is larger than average, fairly satisfying. I was annoyed that I had to cook the meal 1.5 minutes longer than the box said, but it was a satisfying, yummy lunch.

Abi says: At this point I am seriously considering creating a category titled ‘Alfredo Products’.

Healthy Choice says: Fire roasted red pepper sauce compliments the moist, blackened chicken breast while the seasoned rice is the perfect side dish. An apple praline crisp dessert tops the meal.

Nicole says: The seasoned rice looks really disturbing when it comes out. I went to a child’s birthday party this past weekend and the cake was topped by a teddy bear whose fur was made by a method similar to the Play-doh sets that produce spaghetti and the like. That’s kind of what it looked like. But well seasoned. The sauce is well represented by the box pic: it really does have all those red peppers, corn kernels, and beans, but it’s much less spicy than I anticipated. The “blackened” chicken is also less spicy than anticipated, even for frozen food. Tasty and lean, but not . . . really . . . blackened. Emeril would be so disappointed. And finally, dessert: yum, surprisingly tasty. Sweet, real apple chunks, moist . . . needs more crunch for the “crisp”, but I would definitely take seconds if available on dessert. Please and thank you.

Disclosure: Yes, there’s an ‘Abi’ on the box. Abi has also consumed this meal, but that was months ago. This is a good picture and it shouldn’t go to waste.
