Blogger’s Choice Awards

There isn’t a review today. Why? Because tonight I’m hosting a party at my house (if you know me, you’re invited) and leading up to that party is a bar crawl. This means that I spent last night making Jell-o shots and cleaning Jell-o off of the surfaces in my kitchen (how did Jell-o get on the fridge door? I don’t know) instead of taking a picture for the review you’re expecting today.
So, since you’re not wasting away the workday reading reviews, maybe you should be voting for HeatEatReview.com as your favorite food blog of 2007. Yeah, we’re only a few months into the year, but we could still use some validation. Just head on over to http://www.bloggerschoiceawards.com/blogs/show/350 and cast your vote for HeatEatReview.com. The current top three contenders in the category are all Vegan blogs. Are you going to let HER be beaten by a bunch of Vegans? I sure hope not!
Yes, you’ll need to create an account and log in and all of that annoying stuff, but once you do you’ll be able to vote for us! That’s right, just head on over to http://www.bloggerschoiceawards.com/blogs/show/350 and cast your vote for HeatEatReview.com.
Thanks,

Michael Angelo’s Italian Meals
April 4, 2007 | Reviewer: Abi Jones

Next week HeatEatReview is going Italian with five straight days of Michael Angelo’s entrees. Yes, this means that all of you Lean Cuisine haters can stop whining about how all we ever eat is diet food. Sure, Michael Angelo’s meals could be included in a healthy diet, but you’d never know it from the immense amount of cheese they contain.
We spent a week gorging ourselves and now we’re ready to report back on a variety of hearty, tomatoey, potentially Italian meals. For now, feast your eyes on this list:
- Monday - Eggplant Parmesan
- Tuesday - Vegetable Lasagna
- Wednesday - Chicken Parmesan
- Thursday - Baked Eggplant and Chicken Bolognese Sauce
- Friday - Family-sized Meat Lasagna
Question for readers: Do you like the ‘upcoming reviews’ announcments or would you rather just be bombarded with five straight days of one type of meal? I’d like to hear your thoughts. - Abi
Happy Birthday HeatEatReview!
April 3, 2007 | Reviewer: Abi Jones

Today we’re celebrating HeatEatReview.com’s 1 year blogiversary. Yes, we’ve survived an entire year of consuminig everything from Hungry-Man’s frightening Mexican Fiesta to Stop and Shop’s fantastic Apple Blossoms.
I was going to write out ‘HeatEatReview.com’ on a last row of cupcakes until I realized two crucial things:
- I forgot to add eggs to the mix. This explained why the batter behaved like yellow whipped cream and the baked cupcakes crumbled as I removed them from the tin. Yes, they still tasted good, in a dry, lacking egg sort of way.
- While I may have made cupcakes for a blog, getting to the point where I write a blog’s name out in frosting might be going a little too far.
Don’t worry, folks at Josh’s house. I served you the good cupcakes. I tossed the bad ones. Do you know how depressing it is to toss a dozen cupcakes in the trash?
Lacking a final row of cupcakes, I decided to tally up some numbers instead:
287
Number of food products we’ve reviewed
19.16
Percent of reviews that are Lean Cuisine Items (that’s 55, for you non-math folks)
$750
Estimated amount of money we’ve spent on review food
(We buy things that are on sale)
$92
Estimated value (full price) of free meals we’ve received from PR companies
