Pizzeria Uno says: From a single pizzeria in 1943 on the corner of Ohio and Wabash in downtown Chicago, Uno has become legendar for its amazing variety of food, its handmade dough (crafted on-site daily), and a unique, welcoming atmosphere. Nothing fake, nothing too fancy, just great American food.
For Restuarant Quality: For more authentic Uno Chicago Grill flavor, place 3 tablespoons vegetable oil in a round cake pan. Place pizza in cake pan and bake as directed above.
Abi says: Having actually consumed pizza at an Uno in Chicgo, I’ve had my eye on these pizzas for awhile. Yes, I’ve known for a long time that this would be nothing close to a real deep dish pizza of any sort, but a girl can dream, can’t she? Then reality sets in: combine the high starting price with their existence only at my somewhat-expensive non-national-chain local grocer and the frequent sales on my all-time favorite (Freschetta!) and suddenly a year passes before I buy one.
Fortunately, I’m not in love with this bland, boring pizza. Once again, it seems a company cares more about heft than about flavorful products. Or maybe they just have the same problems that Wolfgang Puck does and licensing dilutes pizza quality.
This Uno-branded pizza features vast quantities of chewy dough, a light spread of sauce, plenty of rubbery one-note mozzarella and an adequate amount of ultra-thin pepperoni. Combine those lackluster ingredients with the fact that this takes forever to cook and the final results just aren’t worth the weight.
Ba dum tsssh!

That was pretty much my reaction, they sell for $7.99 around here. If it sold for the same price as other frozen pizzas I would eat it once in a while but then there is the enormous number of calories.
Awesome. Thanks for this recipe. We love Uno’s. During the summer, we probably go there at least twice a week for their late night snack hour. You can get a personal deep dish pizza for $3!
Good stuff. Thanks again!
When Uno’s pizzas first came out (about 5 years ago?) they were really good but I believe they had a change of ownership and the quality really dropped. I wish they would bring back the original recipe they used.
agreed! i got this expecting it to at least be decent (and I live in chicago, so I wasn’t expecting much), but it wasn’t even that. by the way…love your name
