Lean Cuisine says: Grilled white meat chicken, sun dried tomatoes, red peppers, cheese and creamy pesto sauce in a soft flatbread

Andrea says: Wow guys, wow . . . I think this sandwich actually broke one of our microwaves with it’s awesomeness. Seriously, a minute into it’s 2:45 journey into my stomach the microwave just gave up and bowed down to the frozen meal gods.

My first reaction after taking this out of the box was “Woah, that’s actually a good bit of stuff here.” As I was watching it turn in it’s second microwave trip (after it killed the first microwave), the cheese started to melt and the pesto-y goodness started to ooze from beneath the massive amount of chicken, peppers, and tomatoes. The break room filled with the aroma of herbs and bell pepper, and my mouth was starting to salivate. The first bite produced an explosion of flavor and texture from the chicken that actually tasted like chicken, to the cheese that actually strung from the sandwich a la a pizza commercial or that Beefy Cheesy Taco Bell commercial that sends chills down my spine. The roasted red peppers were abundant in flavor and quantity, the sun-dried tomatoes were chewy yet provided a slight sweetness and the flat bread was soft, thick, filling and tasty! Unlike most nuked breads that are usually soggy and super dry at the same time, Lean Cuisine’s flat bread maintained it’s chewy structure that we all know and love in our flat breads. I guess if I had to write one negative thing about this meal, it was the amount of red peppers.. but I think that’s just me, if you’re a pepper person you’ll probably love the abundance of peppery love on this sandwich, complete with grill marks might I add.

I will definitely pick another Lean Cuisine Pesto Chicken flatbread, for the price it wasn’t bad and (hey!) I’m not hungry anymore! If you need more than a Lean Cuisine, I found it paired well with Doritos and grape Kool-aid.

Darn thing cost me $3.47 at Publix … might eat it tonight or save it for a special occasion, like my first born son.

I’m like Harold & Kumar in their quest for White Castle, gotta have the Pesto Chicken Flatbread.

I’m jealous, because yours looks a whole lot less dry than mine did.

  7. Lisa on March 25th, 2008

EDIT: I mean mine looked and tasted dry. I didn’t really notice the pesto. At all.

My mother tried this and said it was disgusting…than again, I’m the one on weight watchers whose been holding out for low-pointed bread, so I guess I would have quite a different opinion. Shall try it out later.

I didn’t know flatbread could throw up in itself…

I wish they’d make a vegetarain flat bread with just a bunch of veggies and some kind of good sauce. But alas, it isn’t to be.

I tried this flatbread along with another one. The filling is tasty and there is enough of it but the flatbread is too doughy.

This one’s my favorite of the flatbread line. I eat it once a week.

I use to love the panini’s, but developed a sudden averstion to the chicken (I think I got a bad one) and quit eating them. I figured the new flatbreads would have the same chicken and haven’t bothered to try one. Thanks to your review, I will pick one up. I love peppers.

Aw, I had high hopes for this one, judging by this very positive review. Bought it with my groceries earlier today and had it for dinner just now. Unfortunately, I found it a little disappointing. I agree with comments about the bread being dry or doughy and there being too many red peppers. (They weren’t even particularly tasty red peppers. I can generally tolerate them and even sometimes enjoy them, but on this one I picked most of them out.) I ended up giving up on the sandwich about 3/4 of the way through, figuring it was a bad sign that I had to wash down the taste after just about every bite. Merely “okay.” Probably won’t buy again. Honestly, the main problem is that I went into this really feeling like some good pesto… but the lackluster sauce (which hardly qualifies as pesto as flavor goes) just made me crave one of Amy’s Pesto Tortellini Bowls. Mmm.

I don’t often try the things mentioned here - but I did try this one because I love pesto and I’m a sucker for a frozen meal. I am not sure there is any frozen meal/sandwich/etc. worth 5 stars, and it continues with this sandwich, which I would give a strong 3 or weak 4. And I am not very picky. (That said, I don’t eat many frozen meals, so this could easily be seen as a 5 if I tested a lot of crappy things.) It had a pesto flavoring, although I didn’t really see any pesto to speak of. And I had no grill marks. It was a passable lunch, but I probably wouldn’t buy it again.

I just tried this and it was pretty darn terrific. I would think the star rating here at heateatreview.com would be in the context of a boxed/frozen meal that simply required heating.

If it were a fastfood item, it would still get a 4, at least.

Now, it really helps if you dont go into it thinking you will be tantelized with pesto-y goodness. It has very very little of that. Its makes up for it with DELICIOUS tomatos and peppers and yummy yummy cheese.

the flatbread is the exact same thing as the gordita bread from Taco Bell. if you dont approve of that, you wont like this bread much either.

My mother always eats these, i really should give them a try seeing as I love pesto but she always eats them before I can get to them!
