Campbell’s says: Campbell’s® Soup at Hand® is a great way to eat right when you’re on the run. Our heat-and-go microwavable cups let you enjoy sippable soup… anytime, anywhere.
Abi says: On the continuum of all pre-made tomato soups I’ve ever had, Campbell’s Creamy Tomato is firmly in the 4 star spot. Sure, it is a complete salt bomb and the mouth of the container is too small for dipping drenching my grilled cheese sandwiches in the soup, but whenever I’m feeling a bit ill (which I was approximately 10 days ago), all I have to do is pull one of these cans of soup out of the cupboard, fire up the microwave, grab a box of tissues, and go downstairs to watch soaps.
Thanks to the packaging-intensive design of this container of soup, I do not need to use any other dishes or utensils to enjoy a piping hot container of tomato and high fructose goodness (23 grams of sugar, wow) and I mean it when I say piping hot. This soup will destroy your tongue if you lack the patience of a saint.
Not being saint-like, I always burn my tongue. I figure that cold soup is worse than pain. This is not an accurate depiction of my overall intelligence, but it explains how I can continue to eat microwaved food even though I know that most of it is horrid. Post-tongue-burning, this soup induces me to stretch out and fall asleep, which is why I don’t recommend eating soup for lunch at work. You’ll just want to curl up in a ball under your cubicle desk and tell your coworkers to wake you shortly before 5:30pm.

Why gazpacho is the devil’s soup.

What?!? I have just lost faith in…everything.
Some of it is horrid, but some isn’t. Just stay away from Healthy Choice and we’re good.
Haha, I’ll second the Healthy Choice comment. Too bad I’ll have to go broke off of Kashi to be truly happy.
I like the idea of their soup at hand thing but I wish they have more flavor choices. At my Target, it’s more expensive than a $1 and there are only like 4 flavor choices.
@Crow - I pretend that gazpacho is just mild salsa meant to be eaten with a spoon.
@Tracy - But there’s a whole aisle of Healthy Choice soups out there! How will I ever be able to resist?!?!
@Jill - Yeah, the Kashi is expensive stuff. Remember: rain checks are your friend.
@MaryAnne - I get these soups at the grocery store when they go on sale and are around a buck a piece. I’ve amended the review to reflect that. Usually they are a lot more expensive and not worth the cash.
Too.much.sugar
Seriously - I almost dumped this out it was so horribly sweet. ECK
I love the clam chowder version of this soup & a good way I’ve found not to burn your tongue is stir it around after cooking to even the heat out some…Works everytime for me
You touched on one point I am extremely agitated about - too much SALT. What really gets my dander up is their advertising their lower sodium soups as having “low-sodium sea salt.” There is no such thing. Sea salt has the same about of sodium as your regular table salt. Because it is usually coarsely grated, it takes less to “fill” a teaspoon since there are air pockets between the crystals.
This is false advertising. I have written Campbells twice and all I got were some coupons for soup we cannot eat.
