Amy’s Kitchen says: Amy’s favorite pocket sandwich is this version of the classic cheese pizza, made with our flavorful organic tomato pizza sauce and lower fat mozzarella cheese. This popular pocket sandwich is a natural for snacks and lunches for both kids and adults.

Abi says: Logically, I should love this pizza pocket. Americans love pizza. I am American. Ergo, love. But this isn’t a pizza pocket sandwich. It is a hollow pocket sandwich. Where’s the cheese? Also, where’s the sauce?

I know, you’re probably saying to yourself “Hey Abi, the cheese and sauce probably leaked out of the pocket during the cooking process. It happens all of the time.”

That might happen to you, but not to me. I am a microwave ninja. I am very, very careful to flip my pocket during the cooking process. I am sad that this pocket is essentially a bunch of crust with a thin layer of cheese and sauce. Even the suspect pizza pockets at my high school had more filling.

If this pocket had more filling, then I would say “Amy’s Kitchen has conquered the pizza pocket world with their flavorful pastry filled with delectably fresh sauce and delightfully stringy and satisfying mozzarella.” But I can’t say that because my pocket was hollow. In fact, the more and more I think about the hollow pocket, the sadder and sadder I become. I must end this review now lest I’m tempted to weep inconsolably the next time I see one of these pockets in the frozen food aisle.

However, if they are on sale I will not weep. I will instead purchase another pocket and let you know if mine was defective or if they all pretty much suck.

After seeing those images, I’m now psycho-sexually traumatized.

I tend to have such adoration and faith in Amy’s, I do hope this is just a mistake of one pocket. I’m tempted to go out and see what my own personal experience will hold. If I do so, I’ll tell you how it goes and provide a (hopefully more filling) picture.

I would write the company and tell them what happened. One time, I dropped a chocolate bar in a mud puddle as a child and Hershey’s sent me a whole box of their chocolate bars after I wrote them.

This is pretty strange because I’ve had this pocket many times and it’s never once looked like that. I even have a picture of it in my own review and it didn’t look like that (granted it was “napalm orange”) but it was generously swollen with cheese and sauce- (which was practically liquid and leaked out) still, it looked nothing like this. I think you got a dud.

For what little the pocket contained it was mighty delicious. I’ll have to try another one the next time I see them on sale. I actually adore the roasted vegetable pocket, an item I have not reviewed. I haven’t reviewed a lot of things I like. Part of this is because I usually limit myself to just one review a week. But also I worry that if I tell all of you that something is delicious it will be gone the next time I go to the store. Because that’s how powerful this blog is.

I buy these for my kid all the time and also have never seen a hollow one. You did get a dud.

These are one of my favorite things in the entire world and I had to comment and say that yours is extremely abnormal. These are incrediable pizza pockets. They usually have massive amounts of gooey delicious, occasionally mouth scalding cheese, more then I’ve ever seen in any kind of pocket. Almost exactly the amount pictured on the box. I’ve been living off of these, the spinich feta, and vegtable one all through college and I’ve never seen a hollow one. You’ve got to try a real one, because seeing this amazing pocket of portable pizza happiness with two stars is extremely sad.

I never particularly enjoyed this pizza pocket but, I am totally in love with the spinach pocket and the spinach pizza pocket. I would pick them over this one any day.
