Michael Angelo says: Eggplant Parmesan is one of our family’s favorites – we’re confident you will find our signature dish better than your favorite restaurant’s version. We start with our specially grown variety of farm-fresh eggplant that is delivered to us daily. We add layers of premium mozzarella, our traditional tomato sauce made from sun-ripened tomatoes, imported olive oil and Italian spices and top it all off with a blend of imported Romano and Parmesan.
Abi says: Today, while miserably cold, is the perfect day for Eggplant Parmesan. Michael Angelo’s claims that their Eggplant Parmesan will be “better than your favorite restaurant’s version”. What kind of frozen meal company claims that some deep-fried eggplant is going to be better out of the microwave than in a restaurant? That’s some serious crazy talk. This eggplant parm contains a ridiculous amount of breading (what’s the point? it isn’t crispy) and a tomato sauce that could be described only as ‘needing spices’ but at least it taste like real tomatoes. Oh, and the serving size is half a tray. Yeah, as though 6 ounces could be considered a ’serving’ of lunch. None of these put-downs explain why I keep buying this meal (yes, with my own money) instead of ordering eggplant parmesan from my favorite restaurant.
Well, this stuff is pretty cheap. You can’t get eggplant parmesan in DC for less than ten dollars. Plus a 10% dining out tax and a tip for the waiter or waitress. I buy these on sale for just $2.50 and stock my freezer with plenty of cold-weather deliciousness. Also on the plus side, there’s a lot of cheese in this meal, enough that I can overlook the horrible nutritional statistics (just double all of the numbers up there) and pretend that the numbers refer to the entire (small) tray. Sometimes you just need to relax in the embrace of a piping hot lunch and ignore nutrition. After all, it is April and you’re wearing a sweater; nobody’s checking out your upper-arm definition.

When I had this, I must not have heated it properly or something. It was kinda coldish in the center and disconcertingly juicy. Perhaps I’m just not as into eggplant as I wanted myself to be.
Personally, the Eggplant dish is one of my favorites from Michael Angelo. I’ll admit that it is quite fattening [delicious wonderful cheese], and would go better if it were to have some sort of veggie with it.
Have fun reviewing the rest of the dishes; I’ve tried most everything from it and found it most satisfying [what can I say? I'm a poor art student with little time to do cooking of my own]
Aw, what a disappointment. However, I don’t think I could conciously consume this without feeling incredibly cheated. The nutrition info is off the wall and for that amount of fat I’m sure I could get a nice crispy eggplant with freshly grated parmesan and a light tomato sauce. Mmm, that sounds so very good.
Brandie, um, that’s what the eggplant is- the vegetable.
Thank you for finally getting to Michael Angelo’s! The Eggplant Parmesean is my favorite, and doesn’t taste like a frozen meal at all.
This is one of my favorite foods. As a diabetic I have a hard time finding Italian food with low carbs and no pasta, and this is delicious. It has suddenly disappeared from the shelves of my local grocery store, so I’m trying to find another source.
I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma….I purchased the Eggplant Parmesan one time & thot it was the best eggplant I have ever eaten. I have been searching all stores in Tulsa & have not found it again. Could you tell me where in Tulsa I might purchase this.? Thank you
We love this eggplant and my husband can get this prepared and to his plate if I am not home. I find this to be one of the best eggplant parm I have ever had…. But please, please tell me besides Sam’s Club where can I buy them. Our Sam’s club is an hour away… So please help!!
I LOVE this stuff! The only eggplant parmesean I’ve ever had that was better is my own homemade version. Now I’m going to have to go to the store and buy some!
o yes. you know about the frozen foods… they are always looking better on the box than they are looking when prepared for eating. and it is always better to just cook for your own self the meal which is frozen. cooking is not terrible difficult you know. but this is so different. yes. so different. this is a delicious, gooey delight which will be playing havoc with your tasting buds as you fall in love with the crisp and gooey texture. but you must heat it thoroughly! it must become almost blackened over the top and then you will be knowing it is prepared. please try this dish. it is a real delight.
