Boston Market says: Our juicy chunks of chicken are honey-roasted and complemented with a sweet and tangy sauce made from balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, and brown sugar. It’s served up with a side of our signature Au Gratin Potatoes
Nicole says:
Dearest Darling Boston Market:
How do I love thee? Let me pay tribute.
Aroma from the microwave so sweet
And savory I could not wait to meet
Your cheesy sauce and honey Dijon soak.
I love thee among frozen meals no dispute,
Bland sauces and low-fat cheese can’t compete.
I love thy luscious, tender chicken meat.
I love its zesty aroma en tout.
I love the potatoes covered, no ruse,
In the creamy thick cheese bath like a cloak.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With all the mediocre frozen meals.
If forever I had to simply choose
Just one, Boston Market, our souls I’ll seal.
The only complaint I could possible make about this meal is its size – not even ten ounces, with a two larger chicken pieces, about five small ones, and a child’s fist of potatoes. Some might shy away from the sodium content, I know. And, no, you won’t get all your food groups. But it’s all worth it. This is probably the tastiest thing ever to go into the microwave frozen. Boston Market was already a heavy-hitter with me, but this meal is a home run.
The skin-on roasted potatoes were an unbelievable complement to the chicken. And that chicken? It was texturally perfect, swimming in amazing Dijon mustard/balsamic vinegar/brown sugar concoction. The cheese sauce cooks up creamy, with beautiful shreds visible before the meltiness comes on.
Suddenly, as rare things will, it vanished.

Mmm. That looks like a lot of food for 410 calories… that may not look appetizing to most people, but it reminds me of this good frozen meal I had one time (I think Stouffer’s Corner Bistro something poatoes and ribs?) and I want it.
So did the Boston Market product “Honey Roasted Chicken” vanish from the shelves, or did the sliver of Wikipedia’s remaining credibility?
Oh, I included that in case people didn’t know that Nicole was completely ripping off Elizabeth Barrett Browning. This entree is still on shelves in grocery stores, though the meal did vanish as she ate it. In terms of Wikipedia’s credibility, I know that it is pretty trustworthy for true academic pursuits. It’s those politicians and historic events you have to worry about.
Politics and history aren’t true academic pursuits?
Good meal but Boston Market doesn’t really make this product! It is made by an outside source and then sold by Heinz. Probably good since the test kitchen at Boston Market is a revolving door!
Steve, you’re right. Boston Market is actually owned by McDonald’s. They license the brand name to Heinz for this frozen meal line.
Does that mean I have to claim love for McDonald’s? Boo.
I just ate this. It was amazing. Ok, so I didn’t really like the potatoes, which contain both ‘pork flavor’ and ‘bacon flavor’ but the chicken and honey balsamic sauce? Wow! I wish I could buy it at the store and use as a marinade for summertime cookouts. Yes, it is that good.
Although the flavor of the food is very good, the portion is rip-off poor. And since I now know that it is from McDonald’s…I guess I’ll just have a Happy Meal which costs about the same and comes with a drink!
I won’t buy it again.
This is soooo good. The portion size is too small but if one could get the recipe, we could make bigger portions. Any one have ideas where to get it?
[...] Allow me to introduce you to Boston Market’s Honey Roasted Chicken with Au Gratin Potatoes. [...]
The best TV dinner ever!! Yes, it has a lot of sodium, but it’s worth it!!
I just ate this meal about 5 minutes ago and I’m still recovering from the mouthgasm I just had. It is the yummiest TV dinner I’ve ever eaten in my entire existence. I’m going ask for the recipe from Boston Market and make it myself.
This is the best thing on the site, hands down.
I just tried this for the first time for lunch today, and it was so good I was kicking myself for not bringing a digital camera to review it, until I discovered that it was already on the site after all. (Now I don’t have an excuse to make a special trip to buy another one and eat it tomorrow. Sigh.)
Shameful admission: after I ate the biggest of the chicken pieces, I switched to using a spoon to eat the chicken with so I didn’t waste any of that delicious sauce.
Really, y’all? Did someone set up this series of reviews and comments specifically to make me feel like I was losing my mind and my taste buds? I consider myself very easy to please, but reading this review, I began to shudder as I remember trying this out about a year ago. There were, as stated, about five little chicken medallions drowning in an ocean of the most cloyingly sweet goo I can recall. I’ve had marshallow paste with more subtlety of flavor. I could barely finish it.. and I eat EVERYTHING.
I have been addicted to this since around 07 I guess. It’s no so much the meal I’m addicted to – it’s the incredible sauce! I have never tasted anything so delicious in a frozen dinner like this sauce. Only complaint is not enough chicken. I am still searching to find how to make this sauce. It’s too bad Boston Market doesn’t bottle and sell it. They would make a fortune off of me!
