Kashi says: Chicken breast with broccoli florets, carrots and sugar snap peas, Kashi 7 whole grains and sesame with red quinoa pilaf, lemongrass & coconut sauce topped with coconut flakes

Nicole says: As usual, the grain mixture in Kashi’s entree is a great break from the plain white rice, basmati rice, and various noodles that accompany not only the frozen meals I generally eat but also the non-frozen meals I sometimes get to have thanks to delivery restaurants or boyfriend-who-can-cook. This one also includes red quinoa, which adds visual appeal

The broccoli, carrots, and snap peas in this meal are striking in color - they look so fresh and bright. They bear out that first impression in retaining some firmness and crispness, and some nice flavor, especially from the carrots. The chicken was flavorful and firm, and served in a generous portion. I think it was 9 or 10 small and medium sized peices, easily enough for a piece per bite.

Sadly, the sauce was a disappointment. I know you guys think I’m the connoiseur of trashy, salty frozen food, but I was soo excited to try the lemongrass coconut healthy entree. The coconut flavor was there, but subtle. The lemongrass I detected a hint of, but I’m pretty sure it was psychosomatic. This is also exactly the kind of sauce I was thinking Kashi should be pairing with their shirmp entree, so finding it accompanying with the chicken… why can’t you take my advice? So, no big flavor here, but it allows the chicken and veggies shine through.

I would definitely eat this meal again, as it is subtly tasty and well-textured. It also filled me up well for a lunch. And I assume, even though I didn’t read the nutritional info, that it’s pretty darn healthy.

It looks and sounds delicious. It’s too bad I’m on a diet or I’d be all over this. The only thing Kashi should work on is the price. I saw them at Whole Foods for $5.00 (plus some change) and thought it was very overpriced. I can go up the street to Crazy Bowls or Roly Poly and buy a wrap for that price and it’s much larger, healthier, fresher, and tastier.

MaryAnne, how is this not a diet meal? Its 320 calories?

    Colleen-
Read further. It’s not just calories that count. It’s 9 grams of fat, 44 carbs (…carbs that are from starches, not veggies; I’m not anti-carb by any means. They just have to be the right carbs), and 700 grams of sodium. While this meal is healthy (much much much healthier than some of the other meals on this site) it’s not necessarily diet-friendly. It’s not for someone (i.e. me) who is looking to lose weight so she can fit into her bathing suit on the cruise she hopes her boyfriend “surprises” her with.

True, true, that is a lot of carbs and sodium. But the carbs are kind of good carbs, as they contain 7grams of fiber to keep you full. And while sodium is bad for your heart/blood pressure and can shorted your lifespan, it doesn’t make you fat. This meal isn’t as healthy as it could be I now realize, but if you’re looking to lose weight its all about calories taken in vs. burned and this definatly is a low cal meal.

Hi there! You may have had a “bad” box. I just ate this dinner, and the lemongrass in the sauce was very bold. I love lemongrass, so I want it nice and strong — and it is! Maybe you’ll have better luck on the next one! (Hopefully mine isn’t the exception!)

Not so much a lemongrass flavor as much as ginger flavor. Very abundant ginger flavor. The chicken and veggies taste good and the meal altogether is filling enough. This is the first one I’ve tried so I am anxious to try other entrees.

Just tried the Kashi Lemongrass Coconut Chicken meal. It was delicious. The flavors popped. The lemongrass and ginger flavors seemed well blended and easily enjoyed/discerned with each bite of the vegetables and pilaf.

I have found a recipe on line with many of the same ingredients and will try to cook this myself. It is that good.

PS. I bought this for $3.59 at Fred Meyer Store (Kroger) in the nutrition center aisle. So not sure why prices vary

This is the second Kashi frozen meal I’ve tried (the other was the pesto pasta). Each time I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how good they are. These meals are actually quite healthy compared to other frozen options. Look at the ingredients on a Lean Cuisine or SmartOnes meal… the list goes on forever… most of which I’ve never heard of. Everything in the Kashi meals is easily read and understood. They are a great, wholesome option for people looking for something quick and great tasting!

mmmm! I loved this, it was exactly what I expected and was one of the best frozen meals I’ve had in a while (before I had bought like 6 healthy choices to try and they were nasty-their meat had a filler or something). Kashi went on sale for half off (now 1.79 plus tax) at publix- so i bought a few to try- wish i bought more! i will stock up next time they go on sale!

I live just outside Atlanta and Kashi frozen meals cost around $3.20 each here.
I picked up several last night at Kroger priced Buy one Get One free for $4.49 making them only $2.50 each.

I LOVE all these meals. The high Fiber and Protein offered in these more than offsets the 44 g. carbs… All the meals are very filling, tasty and even though I am dieting, they keep me FULL for a long time… longer than a WW or Lean Cuisine.

I am eating 4-5 320 calorie meals a day and alternating excercising/weightlifting for one hour a day 6 days a week. It works!

The pruchased the product for under $4 at Harris Teeter and for a frozen meal it has the most wonderful flavor which awakened my taste buds!
As far as I’m concerned its a winner with me, GO Kashi !!!!!!!
