Amy’s Kitchen says: Amy loves pasta - and the rest of us do too. So Amy’s Kitchen began to search for a nutritious pasta dish that, like our pot pies, would be easy to prepare and popular with both children and adults. We decided on another traditional favorite, Macaroni and Cheese made with 100% organic macaroni in a smooth cheese sauce.
Abi says: The sauce in this macaroni and cheese was so incredibly creamy that I had to check out the ingredients for odd fillers I couldn’t pronounce. Here’s what I found instead:
- Organic Macaroni (made with flour and water)
- Organic Lowfat Milk
- Cheddar Cheese
- Grade AA Butter
- Organic Sweet Rice Flour
- Sea Salt
- Annatto
That’s it. That and creamy whole-wheaty (though not 100%) deliciousness. When’s the last time you had a microwaved macaroni and cheese that was that simple and wholesome?
Cooking note: Do NOT heat this item for the full time recommended, which is 4 minutes on high, stir, plus another 2-3 minutes on high. I cooked this meal in the lame microwave at grad school. Ha! Microwave for 3 minutes, break up the frozen middle parts, mix them with the super-hot outside, then heat for 1 more minute. Yes, I just took a few minutes off of your cooking time and saved your meal from microwave hell.

I know I’ve had this meal before, and I really really wish I could remember what it tasted like.
Hmmmmm. I guess maybe the rice flour make it ultra creamy???? I know potato flour sometimes makes things taste kind of velvety, so maybe rice flour is the secret? Interesting. Wish the calorie count wasn’t so high.
I made this a couple of days ago and was terribly dissapointed. The mac was flavorless and gummy, undercooked…not “al dente”. The sauce was boring and did not coat the mac very well, it seemed more like a weight watchers version. Macaroni cheese sauce should coat the mac like it does on the package, instead you could see the hard noodles right through the sauce. It kind of had a strange aftertaste as well. I ended up just throwing out 3/4 of it. I tried everything to make this taste better, but nothing worked. I was shocked considering how many are always going on this companies meals being so good. I have tried alot of mac and this is one, I hate to say, would rank at the bottom . It doesn’t look anything like it does on the box. I appreciate the attention to health and organics, but I cannot recommend this…maybe I just got a bad one.
I have celiac disease and eat a gluten free diet. Although, even if I didn’t, I would still buy this mac’n'cheese. It is delicious. Very cheesy and creamy!
I had this for lunch today. It rocks. Although the calorie/fat count bother me, as does the complete and total lack of vegetables, but I had a salad so that makes it ok.
I have made this at home before in the real oven — you know — that big thing in the kitchen you have to like, preheat and stuff. In the real oven this tastes JUST LIKE homemade, from-scratch macaroni and cheese.
This mac ans cheese is amazing. I am going to microwave some now. Janell deff got a messed up one.
Supremely good mac & cheese! I’m not a mac & cheese connoisseur, but I really enjoyed it. There is a lot of cheese sauce, and the pasta is slightly chewy.
This thing makes me a little sad that I decided to go vegan. I heard that the soy cheese one is not as good.
I love this meal with a little salad. To me the soy cheese and macaroni is wonderfully” delish.” Yum!
