Trader Joe says: Our Garden Vegetable Lasagne is made with organic pasta which is layered with creamy ricotta blended with a mixture of organic vegetables, including spinach, zucchini, broccoli, carrots and peas, covered with a fresh tasting tomato sauce.

Abi says: My boss is obsessed with haiku. Seriously, he forwards his staff the results of haiku-wars that he has with his friends. While haiku-formatted insults can be amusing, it is also a little odd.

Even if you don’t like haiku, you will probably enjoy this lasagna/e. I severely dislike that Trader Joe’s has multiple spellings for lasagne/a. Really folks, just select a spelling and let’s be done with it.

Veggie lasagne
Yes, it is spelled with an ‘e’
My tastebuds said ‘yum’

This lasagne contained identifiable vegetables. I thought ‘Rock On!’ and then I realized that I was eating an awfully carroty lasagne. I really, really like vegetables, but I get a little weirded out when they show up in places where they don’t belong (desserts and barbecue come to mind). Issues of food-mixing aside, this was an enjoyable and filling meal. It was relatively easy to eat during class and the minimal packaging makes me feel a little better about my carbon footprint.

If I were the folks at Trader Joe’s, I’d rename this meal “Lasagna Primavera”. And then the picture on the front of the box would be the Botticelli’s Primavera, except that instead of a dress made of flowers, Flora would be wearing a dress made from lasagna. Vegetable Lasagna. “Flora” essentially means ‘plant life‘ and that’s just what this meal is made of. Ok, plants and cheese.

But if you think about it, cheese is made from plants in a roudabout way. Or maybe you don’t want to think about it. Cheese is sort of gross when you put too much thought into where it came from.

Ahem, this lasagna is not gross. I was just getting sidetracked.

Well at least they didn’t use the words “flavour” or “colour.”

With your name change, I’d say go with this for the cover: http://www.scootersoriginali.com/osc/images/DSC02261square.jpg.

This Vespa Primavera is my dream bike.

The name of the noodle itself in italian is “lasagna”. When you have multiple noodles they are “lasagne” (feminine plural ending - I guess noodles are girly). Though there should be multiple noodles in the dish, I believe it has come to be known as a whole entree as “lasagna”, even in Italy, although I can’t remember if I ate lasagna while in Italy.
