Reader Letters
November 19, 2006 | Reviewer: Abi Jones

I considered writing yet another oatmeal review for NaBloPoMo. Well, I am tired of reviewing oatmeal and I had a muffin for breakfast. Sure, I could have forced down an Aunt Jemima French Toast and Sausage meal just to please you, but I have my health to worry about. By the way, it was a great muffin. If you happen to live anywhere near the Giant Supermarket at 14th St. NW and Park in Washington, DC, I recommend picking up a muffin or two for breakfast. Early mornings, the muffins are warm from the oven and feature a slightly crisp edge around the muffin top. They are quite delightful and could be made even more fantastic by being slathered with butter. I didn’t do that.
While Giant has the foresight to use mini-chocolate chips in their muffins, I’m not sure that they can compare to the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins I made awhile back. Those were so delicious that my boss wanted to know my baking secret. I informed him that the muffins were made not from fresh pumpkin, but from a mix. And that he had a chocolate addiction, which was why they tasted so good. He was not happy with that response. Now I never admit when something was made with a mix. Still interested in making some fantastic muffins from a mix? check out this pumpkin muffin recipe from Sugar Daisies.

I also get those letters about every other week, despite putting a disclaimer on my contact page. I used to reply back to those letters, but decided to stop wasting my time. I also have thought about replying back to them, except telling them that the particular product they want can only be found in Montana.
First of all, those letters are hilarious.
Second, on behalf of my office, family, and boyfriend, we thank you for the link and idea to make chocolate chip pumpkin muffins. So simple and delicious. I even got ambitious and added pecans to some. 10 stars!!!
I stand by my assertion that the last letter is the funniest thing I’ve seen this week. From one granola-eating hippie female to another…bravo!
The last letter, which “DEMAND[ed]” Hungry Man reviews was indeed hilarious, as well as obnoxious. Darn you granola-eating hippie women, not writing about what the almighty Gary DEMANDS you write about. It’s like you were writing on your own website or something. Huh!
