Amy’s Toaster Pops (Apple)

Yes, sometimes HeatEatReview.com seems like a series of laudatory paragraphs on Amy’s Kitchen meals. Sometimes we’re highly critical (see Black Bean Enchilada Meal), but generally we love the foods produced by Amy’s Kitchen. According to Heather, the toaster pops are no exception.

Amy’s Kitchen says: Made with Organic Apple and Flour. The same crisp Granny Smith apples that are in Amy’s popular Apple Pie and Country dinner. Perfect for dessert. Non-dairy/low fat.
Heather says: Oh, Amy, how do I love these? Let me count the ways:
- They’re like Pop Tarts - only healthy!
- They’re kinda like apple-filled empanadas - only healthy!
- They would make an awesome substitute for those nasty McDonald’s apple pie things I crave now and then because my Mom bought me one when I lost the eighth grade spelling bee (vacuous, v-a-c-o-u-s, vacuous. What, no?)
But I digress.
In short, these are yummy. I grabbed one on my way to campus and felt like I got both a tasty and healthy start to the morning. And that’s even after I burnt mine in my hot new toaster oven. Although not especially filling (I was hungry again after about two hours), they’d make a great snack or part of a breakfast. I’m also contemplating topping one with some soy ice cream and calling it apple pie a la mode. I have no doubt of the deliciousness. Next time you’re feeling hungry (or are having spelling-related anxiety), do give ‘em a try.

Where, oh where, did you get these? I was at Whole Foods yesterday and definately did not see these. These look like a wonderful breakfast treat. I’m intrigued.
I’ve seen them at the Whole Foods on P Street in DC. They were near the ‘bread’ section. Is that frozen bread from WF any good?
Oooh, breakfast food intrigue. I’m out west and got mine at Wild Oats, our version of Whole Foods. Hope you find ‘em!
Have you seen that hybrid SUV commercial that features Wild Oats? There’s an article about it in the Rocky Mountain News. I guess they sometimes have Wild Oats private label products at Stop and Shop in the NE. Perhaps they’ll start featuring them in Giant too.
I would definately stay away from the frozen bread-y type things at WF. Some brands do have some preservatives that I had to look up last week (on-line) to get a definition of what they were. I will look in the frozen section near the waffles, breakfast items, etc., next time I’m there. I’m in L.A., CA - so we pretty much have everything.
Well, we can tell someone isn’t Mexican hispanic, at least.
Err, what do you mean, Crow? Explain yourself, sir!
These toaster pops are delicious.Much tastier than ‘pop tarts’ and the ingredients are more wholesome..no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives and no hydrogenated oils.Make sure you tend them closely so they dont burn(they are too good to throw away)
It is midnight and I just ate one of these for paper-writing fuel. It was yummy taste-wise, I agree. But, to me, it was mostly bread and little filling - definitely not as filled as the picture. I guess I should have picked up the actual apple pie - reviewed in a later post - if it was just the filling I was after.
Oh my
i thought these were wonderful
true that there isnt THAT much filling but the dough is so good! I microwaved it after toasting it to get it thawed and the dough was perfect
thanks so much for reviewing this! i love these!
Can you find these anywhere besides Whole Foods?
