Stouffer’s says: Al dente macaroni in a creamy, sharp cheddar cheese sauce.

Colleen says: As far as macaroni and cheese goes, this is perhaps as good as it gets for frozen or packaged versions. Unlike Kraft macaroni and cheese, which is relatively flavorless and made from powdered cheese, Stouffers’ version is pretty darn close to home made. Of course with better taste comes more fat and calories, but I would be willing to make that sacrifice again.

The noodles could stand to be a bit firmer, but they stay intact even after re-heating and do not mush in your mouth. The most important part of the dish –the cheese part of course– is a nice creamy sauce and there’s certainly plenty of it! Although the cheese sauce could stand a dash of salt to spice it up, it is a quite tasty cheddar-flavored, just-creamy-enough sauce.

Word to the wise: make sure to keep the macaroni and cheese hot while you eat it because for some reason or another, the taste changes as it cools down. I can’t begin to explain the mystery of why microwave macaroni and cheese requires a specific temperature in order to maintain its homestyle flavor, so just trust me and re-heat if necessary.

My 4 year-old nephew can eat an entire tray of Stouffer’s Macaroni and Cheese, and it is easy and convenient for parents to prepare. But I can’t believe how much sodium the dish contains! There are 920 mg of sodium in 1/2 tray serving. An entire tray has 1840 mg of sodium. That amount of sodium is way too much for an adult. It is unacceptable for a small child.

I’ve had more Stouffer’s mac and cheese than any other mac and cheese. It’s the benchmark by which I, and most likely others, use to measure all other mac and cheeses against, even against real homemade stuff. So bad for you, but that’s mac and cheese for ya! I’ve even done the completely insane and eaten an entire 22oz. package by myself in one sitting.

I eat a lot of “heat N’ eat” meals and the best i have ever had alone or with a nother entre is the stoufers macroni and cheese I try to get as little “Regular” foods and try to get more “Diet” foods (if you please) but I will occosinally sneak a stoufers or a hungryman or something else like that, … but back to the point I found that it is easy for an “on-the-run” college student like myself when I come home late I would rather go to the store get out of my car and weave around the store and purchase a meal then to go to mcdonalds even though it is a whole lot cheeper, and a lot easer, simply put: THEY’RE GGGGGRRRREEEEEEAAAAAATTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is a definite favorite comfort food… though i don’t eat it that much anymore because of the salt content

i love to add cayenne pepper and some fresh ground black pepper… love the welsh rarebit by them as well!

This is my fave in the frozen mac and cheese world. The noodles are just about perfect and when you nuke it, it gets this nice, crusty ring of slightly overcooked cheesy goodness that’s altogether chewy, a tad crisp and friggin’ loaded with cheddar cheesy yummyness.
    Yummers-Van-Nummers!

I’ve had plenty of macaroni and cheese microwaveable dinners as well and I absolutely LOVE this particular brand (large size, to be exact). At first, I didn’t seem to care for it but I just crave it now. Definitely recommend it.

Top with a good amount of parmesan cheese and you’ve got a perfect mac ‘n cheese meal! ;)
