Stephen Kiehl needs a Whole Foods. Actually, I believe that I will now go to there to pick up some fresh salmon, penne pasta, and squash soup. Okay, and some chocolate macaroons too.

Heinz may sell the ‘Linda McCartney’ line of frozen food products to Nestle. Think about that the next time you’re at Whole Foods.

Lynne Snifka of the Anchorage Press follows an Alaska vending machine stocker for a day. Apparently, some office in Alaska has a frozen food vending machine. I am both jealous and frightened.

Lean Cuisine says: Sesame breaded chicken tenderloins in a zesty orange sauce with a rice medley and broccoli florets
Carolyn says: Let me just say that this was the most magnificent frozen meal I have had in a long time. This was much better than the Lean Cuisine I had yesterday. One factor that turned it into goodness was the vegetable selection. Carrots, peppers, and broccoli – much better than the soggy green beans from yesterday. The carrots, peppers, and broccoli were crisp and plentiful. The chicken was the best part of the meal, somehow Lean Cuisine got away with appearing to have fried chicken in their meal. Very sweet with the orange flavor, there were six or seven larger pieces of chicken. The sauce did a good job of flavoring the whole meal with a nice sweet sauce.
There was no desert with this meal, but the sweetness of the sauce made up for it. Overall, I can honestly say this is the best frozen meal I have had in awhile, in that ‘out of a box’ category. Definitely recommend it.

Trader Joe’s says: Traditional Thai Style rice noodles in a peanut base sauce with tofu, scallions and carrots
Amy says: I’ve consumed this frozen meal countless times and it always delivers. Always. I must admit that I am not always excited to eat it, for when lunch time rolls around I inevitably get a hankering for something involving toasted bread and cheese. The vegan tofu pad thai is neither of these things, but it is always tasty. Don’t be fooled by the fact that it is monochromatic.
