Green Guru says: Homemade style cheese marinated with tandoori spices, simmered with onions and bell peppers in an authentic richly spiced sauce, served with basmati rice.

Today, Kate and Abi both brought this meal for lunch. While this would seem a strange coincidence, it turns out that they both enjoy Indian cuisine, shop at Whole Foods, and like buying sale items.

Kate says:This is not the first time I have had Green Guru International Cuisine Paneer Tikka Masala. In fact, I purchase Green Guru products frequently and they rarely disappoint. The paneer tikka masala is perfectly spicy and delicious. I would not be disappointed to be served something with this flavor at an Indian restaurant, although I would be disappointed by the presentation. This brings me to my two complaints. First, when I see the picture I want my meal to be served in the same rustic hammered metal bowl and it is not. Second, the serving container separates the rice from the paneer tikka masala and there is no way to mix them without using a separate bowl. I solve this by using a separate bowl, but this is annoying and poor design.

Abi says: You know that little storefront down the street that sells every kind of take-out food imaginable and works for a quick snack but you hope that your friends from the vegan coffeeshop never catch you eating there?

Green Guru has perfected the antidote to those guilt-ridden meals. While they haven’t quite taken the chemical jolt out of the tikka masala or figured out a good way to reheat frozen rice, this meal is so delicious that halfway through I lamented choosing a fork instead of a spoon. Ok, so the rice is crusty around the edges and the cheese is a drier than I like. Those drawbacks don’t faze me because Green Guru has provided perhaps the most perfect rice-to-meal ratio ever. This is the golden ratio of meal proportions. Seriously, look at that picture. Yum.

P.S. I have almost no ‘hot’ sensing tastbuds left. Why? Because I ate a lot of salsa as a child. I would eat salsa with a spoon if I could. Even today I eat pico de gallo plain. Yes, I have a problem. That said, I would like to note that this meal noted a medium spiciness on the box. I scoffed at that assertion. I would like to rescind my scoffing and announce that the Green Guru Paneer Tikka Masala does have a delicious amount of tingling spiciness. Just one more reason to love the products created in Union, NJ.

To Abi’s dismay, I love this meal so much that I eat it again and again. This decreases the number of reviews I have for HeatEatReview.com. I feel I should point out that this meal is so good that today in my cubicle I glanced around, saw that the neighboring cubicles were vacant for the moment, and used my finger to scoop the last bit of goodness out of the bowl. I then went and washed my hands (as I had also done before my meal), so no need for for my officemates to fear that my uncouth behavior will result in germs being spread unnecessarily.
