Smart Ones says: Now even better! A chunky garden-style sauce covers five tantalizing layers of fresh pasta and creamy ricotta cheese with a topping of real mozzarella and parmesan cheese. So delicious, so satisfying. . .and another little way you can be good today.

Veda says: The texture is nice, the pasta al dente (when following directions), but the cheese never fully melts until it begins to burn. Unlike some frozen lasagna, it wasn’t too salty and had a decent flavor. Portion size was decent and there’s plenty of spinach, but very few of the other veggies. Pretty good for what it is, but the picture deceives. So, just save the one tiny piece of zucchini for the last bite.

I have been eating Smart Ones Bistro Selections meals for lunch a few days a week, and I think they are awesome. Every meal that I have sampled has turned out delicious and “looks like the picture on the box”. That’s more than I can say about most other brands of frozen dinners.

As far as the meals not being filling… as an adult, you are not SUPPOSED to eat more than what the meal provides. The serving suggestions of these meals is regulated based on a standard dietary scale of necessary daily nutrition.

It is unfortunate that when you go to a restaurant and order a plate of pasta, or a chicken breast platter, they serve you a portion large enough for three people. It is even more unfortunate that most people can and will finish the meal themselves. Try eating half of the meal, and taking the rest home for left-overs! You can have the same tasty meal, twice!

As with most anything else in life, moderation really is the key.

I had this meal for lunch today and thought it was great! I will take this one for lunch again. I think it was the perfect size. I also brought along some individually packaged steam fresh peas to go along with it.

A very tasty meal-in-a-box! Thankfully, this one did not taste like a box. I found lots of yummy vegetables including spinach, carrots and zucchini (just like the description and picture indicated). I was very pleasantly surprised! I am by no means a vegetarian, but this was a great way to get in some of those daily veggies without feeling like a granola crunching hippie.

LOL – that is so funny about the lack of vegs in this. Totally true. So to get around that I add zucchini and turkey burger. Very good. And btw this stuff is waaaaay better than the Safeway knockoff version which tastes like a mouthful of plastic and white pepper. Hmmm. I just realized I am on a website that reviews frozen entrees and I am leaving a comment. This does not bode well for the current state of my life. Excuse me while I go and weep.

This is really good, especially when accompanied with a big salad or cooked spinach. I agree with Lexie regarding standard restaurant portions in North America are far too big and have distorted what we consider a portion size, however, if I were to feed my husband this meal he would probably say that it was a good appetizer and then toddle off to the neighbourhood 7-11 to find some junk food to fill him up. In essence, it’s a good portion size for those of us who only run on ~1500 – 1800 calories per day, and not enough for 3000 calorie burners.

This is basically my favorite microwave selection any brand or any flavor. The white cheese sauce tomato sauce combo ends up giving the meal I think a great texture. Well worth the money when compared to the new steamers or bistro meals being offered. I would suggest for anyone looking for meal at work or dieter in desperation.

Love this one. So filling, so tasty. Really good.

This is one of my favorites – it’s pretty much the only Smart Ones entree that I ever get. I think it’s reasonably filling as long as you eat breakfast.

I’m a frozen meal snob and this is my favorite. I cook it longer than it says on the package to melt the cheese on top. Yummy.
