Boston Market says: Salisbury Steak Patties in a Mushroom Gravy with Macaroni & Cheese.

Chad says: The Salisbury Steak and Mac & Cheese took me back to my childhood memories of lunch lines, milk cartons, and Styrofoam carrying trays. Boston Market has clearly mastered the art of freezing their restaurant experience in a microwavable dish. The cheesy pasta tastes identical to what you can purchase after a long day of work and trip to the B.M., which is exactly what will you have approximately two hours after eating it. As a whole, the frozen dinner is filling and satisfying.

Abi says: There are definitely grill marks on the Salisbury Steak on the box. No grill marks on the actual steak. Can it legally be called steak?

Do you think one pauses when compiling the nutritional information for a single meal and has to enter “Sodium: 2150 mg/90% RDA”?

Yes, one pauses. At least, I paused. That’s why include the serving size (when I remember to write it down) and the sodium amount.

“Swanson Hungry Man XXL® dinners have more than 3,400 mg of sodium per package. The roast carved turkey variety contains 5,410 mg.”

Ok, I definitely am going to get these when They go on sale, but sheesh, that’s a lot of sodium.

I ate this steak and it made me throw up all over a hotel balcony. Not only this, but it seeped though and went onto the balcony below us. The macaroni was good though.

I just ate this for lunch. It was very tasty and satisfying. If I weren’t occupied with buying new and adventurous looking frozen meals for HER, I’d definitely make this a standard. When on sale, of course.

Like Nicole I just ate the meatloal frozen dinner for lunch and I must say I could taste the sodium. I usually buy Lean Cuisines and Helathy choice but they are not filling. This meal was good and very filling…almost too much for lunch!

I was about the write that the idea of microwave ground beef frightened me. Then I remembered that I had a Lean Cuisine Swedish Meatballs meal for lunch today. So, instead I’ll say that microwaved patties of ground beef scare me.

The fact that the Mac & Cheese tastes like the real deal from the restaurant is purely coincidental. ALL Boston Market branded packaged food in your grocer’s freezer as well as a line of jarred gravies are actually manufactured by heinz, who licensed the name and logo from the restaurant chain. There is a line of BM products made by the restaurant chain available in the deli section of select grocery chains. If you’re not sure, look at the logo. The new, almost maroon logo is only on actual Boston Market products. The old, multi-color logo is the one that heinz purchased and uses on its products.

    Kenn,

You’re only right on one front their kiddo… Heinz does license the Boston Market brand. But believe me, the restaurant isn’t going to let Heinz mess with their Mac & Cheese recipe. It’s the same recipe. And Heinz has the rights to use any of Boston Market’s logos. Boston Market would actually prefer Heinz use the latest logo, but it’s a very new logo still with little awareness. This stuff is sold in many areas of the county where Boston Market no longer has restaurant chains, so going to their new logo which most people in those areas are unfamiliar with would not be a great move.

Grosss. The noodles look soupy and the steak looks like it was killed with a meat tenderizer :-/ Dots? On meat? mehhh! Guess you can’t judge frozen means by looks though..
